![]() Maybe it was because I had not been registered that long, but I was logged in when I got the search captcha. And now that several hours have passed since I registered for the forum, I no longer see the captcha when searching - it made a liar of me. Thanks for the explanation & thanks for drawing prgm. Use it instead of Undo though, not as well as, since each time you do press Undo you save a new image state and can only erase back to there. With a bit of patience and practice you will find the Eraser, using the right mouse button, quite a versatile tool. After choosing Select tool again you can right click and drag the box to another edge of the critical area before using the Eraser tool there to rub out a bit more. The Eraser will then only remove the changes that lie within the box, keeping areas outside of the box protected. If there is a critical area you can go to the Select tool and draw a box. Using the Eraser this way it is possible to remove some areas of change while leaving others parts untouched. Set a suitable brush size and hold down the Right mouse button while you "rub out" all the changes you have made since the last time that you used Undo (or since you opened Irfanpaint if you have not used Undo since then). It is possible to use the Eraser tool instead though (the tool immediately below Select). There is only one level of Undo so you can only undo your last change. The Undo tool in IrfanPaint works just as it does in the main IrfanView window. Doesn't work that way in IrfanView for me. Most programs, you click on a "Selection" icon, then click the drawn object & it outlines the object w/ dots around it's perimeter. There is a "Selection Tool" icon on the paint toolbar, but it won't select drawn objects & delete them (for me), like most programs that allow drawing objects on images or even screen captures allow one to do. ![]() In the IrfanView Help file included w/ prgm, there's nothing in Edit > Paint Dialogue about how to select & del (or move, resize) objects. ![]() Tutorial links (English) on this forum are also dead. There are links in the prgm to "manuals" but I found them to be dead. But if several objects & a few mods are made, I can't find a way to select ONE object & del it. If only one object, can use the undo from main toolbar. In Irfanview 4.32 in Windows Vista, once objects (like a rectangle, text box) are drawn using IrfanPaint tools, can't figure out how to select individual objects to delete them. I searched on this question, but turned up nothing. Sorry, even though I'm registered & logged into forum, the search function still requires entering captcha phrase. ![]()
